Kim Thore
Kim Thore, AMA, PRSA, CSSC, attended North Carolina Governor's School East in 1983 in Art. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1988 with a BA in English Literature. Currently, Kim is a Marketing and Public Relations Executive currently in the nonprofit sector and an Adjunct Professor of Strategic Marketing and Communications at Salem College.
She counts her experience at Governor's School as the most formative summer of her life.
She has retained her passion for art and has been a working artist since leaving Governors School. For 9 years Kim taught Marketing for Artists, Digital Art, and Digital Collage for the Sawtooth Center for Visual Design in Winston Salem, NC. In addition to her teaching, she has been an exhibiting artist for the last 17 years and her work is in collections in the US and Europe. Recently, one of Kim's commissioned portraits was made a part of the Public Arts Commission's permanent installations in Winston Salem, NC.
Kim joined the Board of Directors in 2024 and resides in Winston-Salem, NC. and is excited for the opportunity to support the Governor’s School’s unique role in enriching North Carolina’s most talented students.
